Key Events in Our Community’s Journey

In the past six years, LEMB has removed access to the Community Centre, and replaced it with a Nigerian Shipping Company, with bases both here and in Lagos.  There are precious few activities in the Community Centre, which used to hold Yoga and Zumba Classes, Art, Crafts, Drama and Jewellery workshops and provided opportunities for children’s parties throughout the year, but especially at Christmas.  What we have now is an LEMB Summer Party, which is not diverse, held outside the shops and a once a year trip to the Seaside.

Loughborough Voices has had to create a “virtual” community through its WhatsApp group which enables hundreds of people to communicate about issues that affect them.

In 2025 We organised events to bring our community together.

A get together at St. John’s Church with activities for children.

A summer picnic for adults and children to enjoy.

A protest, marching to Lambeth Town Hall to submit a Petition for change, demanding action on removing LEMB and restoring our estate to sanity.

A “Clean Up” action, rallying residents to take part in removing the unsightly graffiti that has blighted the look of Woolley House for over three years.

And we continue to campaign to restore the estate to provide proper maintenance and cleaning and hold LEMB to account.
