Resident stories

“I’ve been waiting 10 years for my bathroom and kitchen to be repaired so at the moment now I wash my pots and pans in my bathroom because my kitchen leaks. How many people on the estate live like this? And the (LEMB) Neighbourhood Services Director does nothing about it apart from spend money on her own ideas.”

“I’ve just been told by the health and safety officer that he is coming around to remove my security gate and charge me £1000 for doing it.”

“Have we got any cleaners on the estate? My estate hasn’t been cleaned for at least three weeks. I haven’t seen a cleaner – we are paying for this!”

“They just keep telling me it’s an urgent matter and a really big job. They said they’re booking me for January… then they called me back and said April because they’ve underestimated how many other properties needed repairs. I’ve been nothing but patient with them I just feel like I’m being messed about. It’s really frustrating, I don’t even want to cook my food around that much mould”.

“It’s alright for LEMB to spend over 50 grand on The Peter Shorinwa Community Centre that no one knows how he got it up, but they won’t spend five grand on my kitchen which I live in 24 seven. That community centre is only used one day a month for his church. The five grand TV that he put on the roof of the community centre would’ve paid for my kitchen”.

“I’ve had more than enough now. I need my damn fencing and the collapsed cupboard sorted. I’ve been getting empty promises for three weeks that it will be sorted. I have been calling the office number and was told by two office staff Lambeth is in control of the LEMB call. Tried calling and no one is answering”.

“Where is Lambeth’s input in all this…LEMB do not own this estate, they only run it badly.”

“Just had the Neighbourhood Services Director rang me telling me they are not going bankrupt, and neither is Lambeth although she told me I have to pay the £50 into their bank account and they will then send someone out to look at my blocked sink, I think they might be recording us in the office unless the H&S Officer told her.”

“I’ve had a parcel in concierge since Thursday which I am unable to collect because there’s nobody been there since then. What has the Neighbourhood Services Director done to all the concierges we had?!”

“The charging of works to be carried out for tenants is totally out of order. I believe this has come about because they spent their budget on scaffolding and painting of the 2/3 tower blocks. We have NEVER had to pay in the past so WHY now. We need ANSWERS TO WHAT THEY ARE DOING.”

“I was called by (LEMB) Office worker and shouted at. I was so shocked I didn’t expect that of him. I was close to tears after the call. He is getting nastier. They just don’t care how they speak to you anymore.”

“They are advertising for their shipping company now. We can’t use the community centre!”

“Who’s paying the electric bill – the shipping company or the LEMB is what I would like to know”.

“My toilet was blocked, and S (plumber) at the time recommended a new toilet, which D, the Asset Manager, denied. S eventually came with a tool that unblocked it. He found that lime had solidified into a toilet waste shape (the toilet acted like a mould). This had built up over some 50 years of limescale, so hard to pin the fault on the tenant for this. Also, as we know, once you give them your money, you may as well kiss it goodbye. Guilty until proven innocent.”

“I have just been told I must pay £50 to have my toilet unblocked. This will be returned if it’s not my fault. How the hell are they going to prove that when the main sewage pipes are connected to 4 flats. This has never been the case…all this charging for work they are responsible for. Not our FAULT they have blown their budget.”
